Worthitpurchase are a two-piece art pop outfit from San Francisco, comprised of Nicole Rowe and Omar Akrouche. Their forthcoming album Dizzy Age was self-recorded through a series of late night sessions at the historic studio Tiny Telephone. Written almost completely in the studio, an eclectic array of gear provided the perfect conditions for their record to form through moments of curiosity, improvisation and spontaneous inspiration.

At just 26 minutes, Dizzy Age pulls the listener into its world with strong forward momentum and confessional sentiments. The group’s focus is split between up-front dueling vocals and adventurous production techniques; Rowe and Akrouche’s dynamic songs draw as much from life experiences as from the act of stylized recording. Tape delay, echo chambers and varispeed hold as much weight in the writing process as a panic attack on a crowded summer subway car.

The two originally met in 2015 through a Soundcloud comment thread after Akrouche surprised Rowe with a cover of one of her songs. They quickly began releasing music as Glaçon Garçon, with Rowe focused on songwriting and vocals while Akrouche handled the production and instrumentals. As Worthitpurchase the duo has grown out of a teenage whimsy and into a more legible and emotionally mature iteration of themselves, developing a new process based in co-writing/producing each other’s songs from the ground up.

Dizzy Age is an impressionistic headtrip for the post-modern thinker, blurring the lines between immediate reality with moments of make-believe
